# Learn the fight. Then win it.

Start with defense and spacing. Watch an enemy’s sequence, survive it, and answer with a short attack instead of trying to overpower every encounter.

## Your first-session practice plan

Use the mobile onboarding to learn your inputs, then focus on one encounter at a time. Choose a small goal you can observe: keep an enemy in view, recognize a familiar attack, or finish a defensive sequence without rushing.

Suggested routine: spend a pass observing, a pass defending, and a pass adding a short counterattack. If you fail, name the problem before restarting. “I attacked before the sequence ended” gives you a concrete next attempt; “I need to be better” does not.

## Understand structure before chasing damage

In Sloclap’s original combat explanation, structure is a separate gauge for you and your opponents. Breaking an opponent’s structure opens a takedown; filling your own leaves you vulnerable. Constant blocking can therefore be a poor substitute for learning active defense.

Treat the gauge as feedback. After an exchange, ask whether the problem was health lost, structure pressure or poor position. This is a reading habit, not a prescription for a particular upgrade or mobile difficulty setting.

## A short defensive drill

- Watch the opponent before committing to an attack.
- Identify the start and end of the sequence that catches you.
- Practice the defensive command taught by your installed game.
- Answer with a short attack after the opening, then return to defense.
- Repeat the same encounter goal before adding another mechanic.

## Give yourself room in group fights

The developer’s original tips emphasize avoiding encirclement, using crowd-control tools and paying attention to armed threats. Translate that into a simple screen-reading habit: identify an open direction before you commit to an attack.

Our suggested review question is “Where could I have moved?” If an enemy disappeared behind you or the camera, practice position first. Use environmental options the game actually presents instead of assuming that every object in a scene is interactive.

## Study bosses one sequence at a time

Sloclap advises observing boss patterns and finding counterattack openings instead of button mashing. On a difficult attempt, make survival the goal long enough to recognize a repeated pattern.

Write down a simple cue in your own words, such as “wait for the last swing.” Do not add a long combo until you can recognize the opening consistently. These are practice suggestions built around the original developer advice, not claims of mobile boss testing.

## End with one thing to improve

Keep the next session narrow: one defensive action, one crowd situation or one recurring boss sequence. More attempts are useful when they test a specific change. Continue to the aging guide for the progression background.

## Quick answers

### What should a Sifu beginner practice first?

Start with the game’s defensive actions and comfortable movement. Learn an enemy’s sequence, then add a short response after its opening.

### Why does holding block stop working?

In Sloclap’s original combat explanation, blocking builds structure pressure. A filled structure gauge leaves the player vulnerable, so learn active defensive options too.

### Should I restart every time I make a mistake?

Use an attempt to learn something specific first. The developer’s original advice encourages continuing to learn and revisiting earlier sections as your skill improves.
